From Disconnected Systems to Full Operational Visibility
Background
Marshfield Farm is a family-run, multi-award-winning dairy ice cream manufacturer based in South Gloucestershire. The Hawking family farm produces more than thirty flavours of real dairy ice cream on-site, using milk from their own herd. The business supplies over 8,000 independent outlets across the UK.
With a team of around 20 people managing everything from farm operations and production to sales and distribution, Marshfield Farm is a business where operational efficiency and traceability are essential.
The challenge
Despite the quality and reputation of the product, Marshfield Farm’s operational systems were holding the business back. The technology in place was a patchwork of disconnected tools, including Notazone, Sage 50 and TAS Books, all server-based and increasingly difficult to maintain. None of them were integrated with each other. This created unreliability, duplication and potential points of failure.
Accounting was handled through Xero, but without any integration into stock or production, the business had limited visibility of inventory, no warehouse management capability and no production scheduling. For a food manufacturer handling perishable products and working to strict food safety standards, that was a significant risk.
Marshfield Farm needed a connected, modern system that could replace the fragmented setup, give the team real-time visibility across stock and production, and support the traceability requirements that come with operating in the food and beverage sector.
The solution
BlueHub reviewed Marshfield Farm’s processes before recommending Cin7 Core as the right foundation for the business. The recommendation was based not just on inventory management capability, but on Cin7 Core’s ability to act as the central hub for the entire software ecosystem.
BlueHub integrated Cin7 Core with Xero, replacing the existing Sage and TAS Books setup with a cleaner, cloud-based accounting connection. They also integrated Cin7 Core with Zudello, automating sales entries that had previously required manual handling. Mobile barcode scanning was introduced to give the production team real-time tracking capability on the floor.
Marshfield Farm now has a connected system that can handle stock management, production scheduling, warehouse visibility and finance in one place, with full traceability built in.
