Selectequip

Huge success for Selectequip who worked in partnership with BlueHub to significantly reduce the need to use large amounts of paperwork and increase visibility between large teams.

Founded in 1989, Selectequip is the leading online seller of PPE workwear, work tools, and rail products, supplying to well-known companies such as Network Rail and Aggregate.

The problem

Their accountant, Haines Watts recommended that they speak to BlueHub after they decided to move away from Sage 200 after their year-end. This was due to their system and processes for Sage requiring too much paperwork, leading to a lack of visibility between their two warehouses and the salesmen on the road. They knew they needed help finding a system that would bring everything together, and felt Xero would provide the best accounting base to build on.

We worked closely with Selectequip and their accountant, getting to know them as a company to ensure we chose the best system for their needs. We guided them through a requirements and process review to capture the software scope, and we researched the market to assess suitable solutions.

The solution

Once a potential system had been indicated, our team worked on proof of concept to test and finalise the system selection.

Zena Harwood, general manager of the company, stressed the importance of a system that had detailed reporting features due to being regularly asked by senior sales staff: “what are our sales figures, and what is going out the door today?”.

Bearing this and other needs in mind (including traceability and multi-warehouse management), we recommended and later implemented the cloud-based inventory system, Cin7.

We’ve reduced our paperwork significantly and our orders can now be processed and dispatched in a few hours, rather than days.

Results.

Improvements to the business from using Cin7 were noticed Instantly.

Everyone is looking at the same system: everyone is linked. Even the sales guys out on the road can see exactly what we can see here.” It was clear that one of the biggest benefits and improvements of using Cin7 was in the warehouse. “They can now see the orders go on the system within minutes. The goods are now being picked, packed, and sent out the door on the same day – which is a massive bonus to us.”

Due to the nature of the business, Zena admits that “we are quite a bespoke company and BlueHub had to tweak a lot in Cin7 for us. But they did it with no problem whatsoever”. She felt that “the best aspect of working with BlueHub was the support and thorough training from Darren and Joe – nothing was ever too much of a problem, and they understood us as a company, which I think is important.”

What’s next?

Since the successful implementation of Cin7, we have continued to support Selectquip including the building and integrating of a new B2B ecommerce platform.

The successful implementation of this platform helped Selectquip to win a very important and big tender with the Marriot Group. We have also ensured continued success by providing them with additional training since this integration.
